Jürg Conzett stellt zwei nicht ausgeführten Strassenbrücken von Robert Maillart der 1930er-Jahre vor: die Strassenbrücke über die Sitter von 1934 sowie die Brücke über die Rhone von 1939. Ihre grossen Dimensionen verleihen beiden Brücken eine einzigartige Stellung in Maillarts Gesamtwerk, und die in ihnen erkennbaren Konstruktionsprinzipien weisen über die «klassischen» Maillart-Werke hinaus weit in die Zukunft.
